Major League Baseball Playoff Picks

Last night was one of the many reasons I love baseball. Never in a millions years could you have scripted the way last nights games went, which is why sports will continue to be the best reality show around. Now on to my picks

Divisional Round
Tigers over Yankees in 4 - Justin Verlander will beat CC Sabathia in game one tomorrow night to set the tone, and then come back in game 4 to close out the series in Detroit and send the Yankees home early.

Rays over Rangers in 4 - Last year these two teams met in the first round with the Rangers winning in 5. The difference this year is the Rangers don't have Cliff Lee to pitch twice. Rays get revenge and keep their miraculous season rolling.

Phillies over Cardinals in 3 - The Cardinals are just happy to be in after the Braves epic collapse. They are tired while the Phillies have been resting up and setting their rotation. This will not be much of a contest as Halladay, Lee, and Hamels will all shut down the Cards

Brewers over Diamondbacks in 4 - Prince Fielder and Ryan Braun will be too much for the Diamondbacks to keep up with, a sweep wouldn't surprise me, but neither would the snakes pulling out a couple close victories.

Championship Round

Rays over Tigers in 6 - Verlander will continue to be the best player in the playoffs, but the Rays get wins in all 4 starts that Verlander doesn't pitch and take their dream ride back to the World Series.

Brewers over Phillies in 7 - This series could be the best series of the playoffs as the Brewers are very underrated with the Phillies get all the attention (and deservedly so.) The Brewers can hit as well as any team in the league, and their starting staff will do just enough to pull the upset and send Milwaukee to the World series for the 2nd time, and first in 29 years.

World Series

Brewers over Rays in 6 - I would like to pick the Rays here because I think it would make the best story, coming back from 9 games out in September to win the World Series. I just think the Brewers are going to be too much offensively and the Rays lineup will not be able to keep up. Rays keep it interesting, but ultimately I see the Brewers holding the trophy at the end.

World Series MVP - Ryan Braun

Til Next Time,
Dallas
